Continental Airlines – An Airline for Everyone



Continental Airlines came into existence in the year 1934. It is one of the major airlines of the United States of America. It merged with the United Airlines on March 3, 2012 and is currently operating under it.

Back on 1934, it commenced its operations under the name of Varney Speed Lines, operating passenger flights as well as airmails to American Southwest regions. Later on July 8, 1937, it took up the current name following a renaming of the firm. Over these years of its existence in the industry, the airline has only shown a growth, with its growth rate booming upwards.

The airline is also famous for the provision of various cargo flights during wars like the Vietnam War to the United States of America. The first headquarters of the airline was located at the Stapleton Airport, Denver, Colorado. However, while merging with United Airlines, its headquarters was located at 77 West Wacker, Chicago, Illinois.

For the first forty years of its existence, the airline mainly operated domestic flights; however, it wals during the mid eighties that it took to other routes, expanding largely and moving internationally.  Some of the major destinations it served include Nigeria, Bermuda, Cuba, Jamaica, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Delhi, Philippines, Italy and many more.

Continental Airlines has an all Boeing fleet consisting of aircraft like Boeing 737-500, Boeing 737-700, Boeing 767-200ER, and so on. Apart from these, the airline also has some wonderful in-flight comfort and services laid out for its passengers to travel in luxury.
